| 1969 | Completion of Building #1. TDA is certified by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. |
| 1977 | Certified as
a school for specialized studies. TDA is certified as a school for specialized studies and the school name is amended to “Tokyo Specialist School of Design.” |
| 1981 | Completion of Building #2. |
| 1985 | Establishment
of the educational corporation “Harajuku Academy” is approved. It is certified as “Harajuku Academy Educational Corporation.” |
| 1987 | Completion of Building #3. |
| 1995 | Awarded the
title of “Specialist.” From March 1995, graduates of the specialist course (over 2 years) are awarded the title of “Specialist” by the Minister of Education. |
| 1996 | Creation of
the Alumni Association. To commemorate the school’s 30th anniversary, the Tokyo Design Academy Alumni Association is established. |
| 2005 | 2005 Completion of New Building #1. |
| 2006 | 2006 The “Harajuku Design Project” is begun to commemorate TDA’s 40th Anniversary. |
